When SG2 came out there was no voting system yet. It was lobby, then a random map. (Or something like that). When SG3 came out, I don't remember quite what happened but I think that was around the time the voting system came out. It would've been SG1, SG2, SG3 though and it wouldn't have mattered because there were only 3 maps to put on the list. Then breeze came out as a 24 player map only, taking up the 4th spot on the list and Overgrown came out at the same time as a 48 player map only, taking up the 4th shpot on the list in a 48 game. After that I stopped playing, gave up my throne of top posting to Stijn which he has kept rightfullyGuys you don't understand when SG2 came out, it was not the first. It was second right after SG1. Correct me if I'm wrong but I am really positive. And the when SG3 came out, it was not first, it went right after SG2. The when Breeze and Overgrown came out, it was right after SG3. When Khamunrah, Teweran, and MCSG Ruins came out, it was after Overgrown. Then Chad implemented the skip and lowered the maps down to 4 maps per lobby instead of 8. So then it was random. Then SG4 came out. It wasn't first!!! It is random. It could be first, it could be not. I dont remember SG Japan being first every time. But this is what's different about Sg5. It's first all the time even though it is random. It is always first on the list. That is what HalfSquirrel is talking about.
Thank you for Reading. I think this is my longest post ever![]()
Sorry to burst your bubble, but this isn't correct. There were random maps until the advent of Breeze Island and Overgrown arena. There was no voting, and there was no map order. Then, with the release of community maps, voting was implemented, and ultimately the skip feature, and reducing the number of maps being voted on to 2. Not 4, 2. That happened later. As a nod of thanks to Vareide for getting these servers started, Chad decided to make the most recent TV map first on the list. This was, at the time, SG 4. So you had two options for voting: SG 4, or some other, randomly chosen map. This didn't work out well, with SG 4 being overplayed (even though everyone hated it at the time), and many other maps being underplayed, so Chad increased the amount of map choices to 4. However, he kept SG 4 as the first option nonetheless, continuing to show appreciation for Vareide's work. I'm not sure exactly when it was taken off the first slot (most likely after the tremendous uprising of people saying it was overplayed), but it was first for a long time. New community maps don't get that treatment, which is why you haven't seen SG Japan being the first map choice (as it was made by members of Tv, not Vareide himself). However, Chad has said that all Vareide maps going forward will have this privilege, and the precedent HAS been set by SG 4, it was not created with SG 5.Guys you don't understand when SG2 came out, it was not the first. I know that the maps were random. I was talking about when voting came in not randomized maps. Dude I've been here since Late May/Early JuneSorry to burst your bubble, but this isn't correct. And that was the history of SG maps in relation to voting![]()
