His post didn't really come across to me like that, more that he didn't want users coming on here writing long excessive posts irrelevant to MCGamer and it's future with the 1.9 update coming.

As for how I feel, I think (if we or anyone else update to support it) that it will drastically change the landscape of PvP. It's not the click and strafe it used to be. It could bring new strategy, but people could get frustrated with the new hit stuff and just bail on the game completely. This is really a hit-miss kind of thing that was a big risk for Mojang, and updating has high risk & reward for any server.

I disagree that it will be the death of the server. Although there may potentially be a drop in player-count due to players wanting to PVP on other various networks that may support 1.9 to a better extent, I'm sure that there will still be some players left. MCGamer will never die completely, although I do admit that the player-count isn't exactly what it used to be.

I mean, I know that myself and other various people will stay play on MCGamer regardless of 1.9 updates, so that's not all of the loyal players *shrugs*

im still gonna get on mcsg but not play the gamemode if they mess it up lmfao it is my home server afterall plus i dont think you even tryhard the game as much as the sweats do to care enough about which version of mc they want it to be

Well loyal players usually won't leave a server, therefore the term loyal. If they were considered loyal would this be a big enough event to break such a bond? For some maybe, but for the truly loyal, I think not.

If MCSG was going to be restricted to 1.9 ONLY then the server would die, but the post said that they've found a way to make it compatible with 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 giving you the choice to use whatever mc version you please.

I'm really excited with the adding of shields and dual wielding (Or so I've heard). I really wonder how it'll turn out in the server, I'm actually looking forward to it! <3
Although... My biggest concern about the new things being added that will affect the general gameplay is... Modifications making it unfair for other players in the servers. :c
But let's look at the best! And hope for the best! It can't always be that bad as many people anticipate it to be. We just need to do our best with what we've got, because in the end, we shouldn't let a mere update out of many affect us as a community.

I'm not gonna say if 1.9 will kill this server or not cuz I honestly don't know. 1.9 will change pvp in general on not JUST mcgamer, but servers all over.

My thing is, let just make sure we aren't the first to jump to 1.9 only this time like we did with 1.8? Let's see how other servers handle it first.

Spigot which runs mcsg aka Bukit can customise it to pretty much be 1.7-8 server again but still accessible using 1.9 and have no difference in pvp.
