Sorry I have to ask, but why would it be my internet? I played for months before the update with no trouble, now since the update it's lagging. I have high speed internet, the exact figure I don't know, but I can play plenty of other games without lag. My CPU also is plenty good for minecraft, I have an i5 2500K which is way more than enough for this game haha. It's just strange, idk maybe I can try changing some settings somewhere or something... I was thinking that maybe I was joining some US server on the west coast or something. Do you guys know what US servers are east coast? Is there any correlation between location and server number? Like US 1-10 are East etc? Thanks for any help, pretty frustrating that the update ruined the game for me!

I'm not sure. Yeah when 1.4 hit I lagged bad but now it's fixed. Don't know how, don't know why.

What does optifine do? Would that help me at all? I mean I have a computer that I bought for BF3, so it's kind of overkill for minecraft. I have a GTX 570, so it's not FPS 'lag', it's just bad connection. It has gotten slightly better, the day of 1.4 update I remember everyone online lagging with 1 bar. But even still I only have 3 bars. A lot of times once we get to the arena and have the 1 minute wait before it starts I can just run around without getting snapped back to my podium. Pretty weird, I'm going to get my laptop and see if I can run the game without lag on that. Maybe that will help diagnose the problem.

Well I just tried to play again after installing optifine and nothing happened. The game is still extremely laggy. I jumped up on a guy was hitting him about 30 times before it started to hurt him then it just lagged like crazy until I died and was banned for an illegal move again. So the game is completely unplayable with this crap going on.

It is most probably your Internet. Other than that, I don't have an answer.

Yeah it has to be on my side, but what changed? I'm still playing on the same computer through the same modem. It's just weird, maybe I'll mess with some settings and see if it fixes anything. Or try my laptop to see if that works. Only problem is my laptop will 'lag' from having terrible FPS instead haha.

Honestly, I believe it is because of the sloppy coding that was put into the minecraft bukkit builds, and or the minecraft its self... Back when minecraft was an indie game, the coding was air tight... And now its all over the place..
