I think the difference is that the clan war is where more than 2 clans participate in a battle and play until the last clan is standing and a clan battle is a battle where only 2 clans participate and play until only 1 team is standing.

No. A clan war is where they make a bracket and you face one clan and then if you win you move on to another clan and if you win you move on another clan and so on until there is one clan that has beaten all clans that participated in the clan war.
