I like the idea of a 'Hints and Tips' forum.How about a 'Hints and Tips' forum where people can discuss what servers they will play on most, comment on whether they are facing any issues with it. If there are any sneaky easter eggs that they wish to discuss, or maybe give away a few survival tips and statergies. So i guess it would be a good place for newer players to investigate and so that they can learn a few from previous masters.
Another thought is a 'tournament' section where people can plan there own tournies and what server etc it would be held on.
Just a few suggestions

Our Minecraft servers are offline but we will keep this forum online for any community communication. Site permissions for posting could change at a later date but will remain online.

Hmmm.... We have the features thread, but that is for the server features. I would probably say put the topic under either Survival Games or Anything Minecraft.

For the start it would be nice to have the "Map Ideas" Forum renamed to just "Maps".
Additionally, a category where people could leave their game reports would be nice as well.
