Working is one of the best things you will hate doing. I started working when I was 16, and had consistent work since. Working for my entrepreneurial parents, I had a wide variety of tasks, and thus developed a wide variety of skills that I use to this day. I never really liked to work, but I liked what working taught me.

Starting yourself early by working before you're technically an adult prepares you for the adult world, which is a major leg-up in life. The pay is nice too (but it's never enough. Trust me), but the real reward is in the skills and experiences you build. And it is those skills and experiences that will put you in an adult career that will pay enough.
No Matter what job anyone get's, It's an experience whether it's A bad experience or a good one. Thanks for sharing a little excerpt of your working life! :)

My parents are entrepreneurs as well so I started working at the ripe old age of 12 at their business. It obviously didn't have the same responsibilities as a real job but I learned a LOT from my experiences. I definitely think starting to earn my own money at that age has shaped me into the person I am today. I always feel guilty when I have to ask my parents for money and if I'm not working somewhere, I'm volunteering. It's really taught me the value of a dollar and that's something I hope to instill in my kids someday as well :)

Remember, work isn't just about the money. It is good though that you guys are using that money for good causes.

Working young gives you experience in the real world, how people won't always be fair, how you have to fend for yourself. And with work, if you don't find something you love, you're going to be lost in life. Find something you enjoy, even if it doesn't give you tons of money, because enjoyment is worth so much more.

I don't think people around this age have to be working, but if they need to or want to of their own accord, that's fine! Experience is good and so is helping out yourself or your family for a good and/or important cause.
Personally, I don't think I'll have to work until much later. I am fortunate enough to come from a family where we are wealthy enough to be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle, education for me (which is actually quite expensive as boarding schools have rather large tuition fees) and essentials like food and water, with plenty of money leftover. I do want to get a job in the future maybe sometime in college so that I can get some experience of a job and donate the money I earn to a charity because I wouldn't need it.
