Don't underestimate the bows! If you shoot an arrow fully loaded up it does more damage than a diamond sword ^.^

But bows are can quickly become useless, after the first shot, its rather hard to get another shot, with cover everywhere and the gap between you and your target getting ever so smaller. Unless, of course its a sea battle, where there's nowhere to hide, and nothing to slow you down.
