Since I started playing MCSG in Summer 2013 nearly every game I have played has been on an overplayed map like SG4, Highway, Teweran 2, or Holiday Resort. While I enjoy most of these maps I really feel like they've been overplayed to the point now that literally half of the players in the game go to the same place in each map and it's just a fight for a few chests which leaves most of the players dead in two minutes. Heck I think I've only seen refill about five times in my last fifty games, maybe not even that. I love it when a really underplayed map gets chosen which is about once every one hundred games because I love exploring the map and finding new things I'd never come across in previous games on these maps, they make long games too. But of course like everyone else I want to win which is why I feel I have to go to the most popular areas on all the popular maps to get some good gear just to stand a chance of winning which either leaves me dead a minute into the game or over half the players have been killed. People are complaining about short games and I'm pretty sure this is the problem, not that players are becoming less skilled. If these maps were swapped out occasionally for new maps where not everyone went to the same place every game it would make for longer and more exciting games. What does everyone else think? Do you think these maps are too overplayed and should be swapped out occasionally or not?

My judging rules:

1. Do the games take too long?
2. Is the terrain diverse?
3. Are there spots to help people strategically take on other players?
4. Are there secrets?

Unfortunately, many of the overplayed maps rarely fit all those requirements,
while many of the more underplayed maps do. I love maps like survival games 4,
but I also like Rugged Lands, Wyveryn's Wake, Origins, and more. Just the way
the gameplay comes together is really cool.

I'd appreciate a system to prevent playing overplayed maps, but it is likely that it will
not work out. :(

These maps are only overplayed because they are tiered correctly.

Don't get me wrong I do really like some of the OP maps like Holiday and Breeze, I just get fed up of every game being the same. Go to corn->run to popular chest area->kill whoever is there or get killed and this is only two minutes into the game. I'd like some more variation in where all the tier twos are, for example I like holiday although it's OP because no matter what direction you go you are able to find good chests so you can fair well in a fight and stand a chance of winning, usually in holiday I go whichever way is behind me and it doesn't really hinder me. I'd like more of that, not having to risk dying straight away because I more or less have to go a certain way.

Rather than that, I suggest a random tiering plug in. Would make maps much more interesting, and OP routes would be a thing of the past.

Except, it's fun, because it's nice to be able to have one place that a bunch of people run so you can get a lot of kills. Also, that would make corn pointless. The maps ALL have at least one tier one that should be a tier 2. Every map has at least one mistake. Which is fine, but the reason some maps aren't being played (SG3, Kharmunrah, Teweran, Breeze Island 2, Breeze Island (as often), origins)) is because they have either no, or close to no tier 2s. That would make maps soooo much more fun if the maps were fixed. Dave ChadTheDJ Map Committee CaptButterToast Cubes KellieBreanne Read this please.

That is just it though. There are many maps, such as Origins, where there are tier 2s just sitting next to a tree, while some on top of a parkour challenge are tier one. Many maps are not tiered correctly, and map makers should have more say in the matter of the tiering of the maps. Guinessis and Tree_TheBigKind, I know you guys have talked about this subject before, anything to add?

While some people might ink that those maps are tiered correctly, it seems like more of the community thinks there are problems with tiering. I personally feel that there should not be a tier 1 chest behind a red stone puzzle, or on the top of the parkour. I think people just want tier 2s to belong where they should be. Also, are you sure breeze island 2 has 30 tier 2s? As far as I remember corn is tier 1. (At least when it's played)
