I think a good example of how well community events was Valentine's day. Everyone was in a great mood going around doing parkour, boat races and just a general great time. Good luck finding someone that didn't have fun on that day. Personally I believe we shouldn't restrict events to certain regions. Although valentines day was hosted in the Us servers players from all over the world joined and it was a great time. Maybe a big event once a month. For example maybe a catch up event?
