To anyone who is angry at Ender_Harold: Depression is a dark place, I myself was once in a position similar to him, I went through some tough times when I was younger. There were days where I would sit in my room and I would rationally think about killing myself. Life can be hard and harassing him for his mistakes do not make it any better.

Personally I am just glad that he is alive and didn't actually do it.

Statistically ~75 out of 100,000 people commit suicide each year, there are 200,000 people that have registered on the forums, someone here has inevitably and unfortunately done it. Just look on the positive side, one less person did it.

To anyone who is depressed: Realize that life is long, put it in perspective, just because you have had a couple rough months does not mean that you need a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Guess I can give my two cents to this.

I think people are reacting to this all wrong. We've expressed this opinion already a few times. Negative reactions will do no good to the situation. This is where the true colors of our community show.

We have people like Captain, who try to work with the problem, help, and try to prevent it in the future.

Then we have some who take it negatively ( Not going to name names but you know who you are ). If we look at the past like what, 2 - 3 pages on his forum account its nothing but negativity and insults and just terrible things being said.

I'm not saying what he did was right, it wasn't. It was completely out of line and completely morally wrong in every way. How the community is reacting isn't helping. If he was looking for attention, That's exactly what you're giving him!

So, lets take a minute to analyze this situation our community is in. This entire situation of him " Lying " about committing suicide. People on the forums explode into war. Negative, bad things said and done about it. Captain makes this thread ( I consider this thread the eye of the storm ) to take a different look on the problem. To help, work with the problem instead of doing what the rest of the community has. This is why I still have some faith in the health of our community.

Lets now take a look at the other side of the storm. We have people making negative comments, insulting him, generally taking the situation negatively. Lets analyze this. What does saying these things do that has good impact on the situation? I'll tell you, nothing. It does absolutely nothing good. It can only fuel the flame more. I'm open to hearing a negative thing said that has helped the situation. Please, if someone can prove me wrong on that point please step up.

Well, i'm done. Thanks for making this thread Captain, and thanks for taking a different look on the problem. You truly have earned my respect sir.

Edit :This might've been the wrong place to post my opinion but I didn't know where else to.

Animals can die from loneliness, it's been seen before. Needing support and friendships isn't just a psychological luxury, they're vital for developing communication skills and being able to have a balanced self-esteem. When the human body is deprived of things that they need, they typically behave irrationally.

To all the people who are insulting Ender_Harold for lying about suicide, you should very well know that belligerence to other people never benefits anyone, no matter what the situation. We all make mistakes. Why? Because we're human. Everyone has done something selfish or cruel in their life at some point, and when you trash-talk other people for doing them, all you're really doing is trying to make your own crimes seem subtle.

If anyone sees Ender_Harold in game or on the forums, please be thankful that he didn't actually commit suicide, and try to be supportive, or redirect them to someone you know who can help. Even if there's billions of them, a single human life is worth more than money can ever buy.

I'm going to move this to off-topic discussions, as it's more of a community thing and not very relevant to the SG gamemode.
