My name is SandA79. I have played well over 2000 games on these servers. I practice pvp every day and I have not gotten any better at this game. I think that I am a decent PvPer but I can't win any games. I've only won 75 of them. In roxbot PvP I do very well but, in MCSG I get killed by players that are way worse than me and i have the worst luck. When ever I get killed usually that person who killed me usually wins the game. I need help with strategy and decision making. I know all the tricks(I watch huahwi, creeperfarts, grape, and graveyard). I just can't go very far in the game even if I know the strats of the tricks. It seemslike i have the worst of luck when i play. I don't know if I am meant tobe good at SG but I want to be. If any experienced players can help me out and teach me that would be much appreciated. If you would like to help a fellow tribute, start a private conversation so we can exchange skype info.
Thanks, SandA79

Survival Games as the name states is not PvP. It's Survival Games. There are strategies involved in the Survival Games that are not part of PvP. Knowing where to go and when to do it is all part of the game. What I am trying to say is that if you are good at PvP it doesn't always mean that you are good at the Survival Games. But I wish you good luck and hopefully you can start winning more games :D

Knowing routes is very important in survival games. Another thing you could work on is judging how many hearts your opponent is at so you know whether to fight or run. The last thing i can think of at the moment is, learn how to use FNS and the bow, MCSG is different from roxbot in that not everyone has equal gear. Try to learn how to take out people with better gear than you.

Being one who has never been good at PvP yet being able to win about 1/5 of my games nowadays, I may have some advice.

First of all, don't play to get better and develop individual skills, such as sword fighting or flint and steel. Play to win. This was a mistake I made for a long time. I would purposefully fight someone in close quarters to sharpen my sword abilities, for example, which actually undermined my resolve to win.

You have to want to win more than anything else. Don't make excuses, just make a way to win. Avoid any situation that has more than a 5% chance of causing your death. (Note that you don't have to win the fight, you just have to make sure you have a 95% chance of survival.) Only fight in areas that are open or in which you have a very distinct advantage. Even if you have full iron and your opponent has leather pants and a stone axe, they could still be hacking, so don't fight them unless you have a way out.

Skip corn. Especially on smaller maps with more tier two's, skipping corn will actually help you get a jump start on everyone else. (If you don't know the map or it has few tier two's, go to corn.) You will be able to take control of your route much better and slay those coming from corn with whatever tier one's you can quickly get. Skipping corn will also help you avoid the initial stone sword slaughter.

Don't give yourself away. When possible, initiate fights with the element of surprise. Be patient and wait for the right moment to reveal yourself. On the contrary, don't let others sneak attack you. Play with plenty of sound and look around constantly.

Make sure you know at least one good route for every map, and at least two for every popular map. Routes are a lifesaver if you aren't the best PvPer.

Deathmatch is the cause of most of my deaths. In deathmatch you can't play passively anymore. If possible, team up with one other person, or if it's an FFA, avoid fighting at all costs. (Scummy, but it works.) If it's a team against you, I would actually recommend hitting them head on. Place lots of flint and steel and just zig zag between them, trying to confuse them. Pin one in a corner if you can. Don't try to run from a team too much, as they will run you down in deathmatch. If you are engaged in a 1v1, play so that you constantly maintain the advantage. If you already have good gear, enlarge your advantage by going head on in a sword fight. If you are lacking in gear, go for a bow fight and make sure you don't get caught in any combo locks.

Finally, make sure you are enjoying yourself. Playing while you are in a ditch will make you feel like you deserve the win more, and cause you to make dumber decisions.

For me the worst part of mcsg and the hardest is deathmatch because either people are teamed the whole game and team up on me or they do the spam swords to team at deathmatch and I always die because of teamers at deathmatch, my solution mcsg either add something like blindness during the 10 seconds or just get rid of the 10 seconds, please any staff members please think about this.

Please anything but that.

Anyways, yeah despite the fact I suck at PvP (though I once was good), I can still make it into deathmatch on most occasions just by playing strategically. Get a full view of your surroundings, check behind and to your left and right all the time, shift and stalk, just be very cautious. If you do go in to fight someone and he gets the first hit on you, immediately back off. While it may not seem like much, that hit could be a game changer.

As ArgaJones said, routes are very important in Survival Games, as the gear you get depends on them unless you get a lucky kill on someone stacked! Also, Survival Games is different to just free for all's with the same gear on a map that isn't huge, you need to learn tactics, like running, flint and steeling, rodding etc.

My advice is to focus on them, practice them and I'm sure one day you will be a lot better!
