All the maps that are going around the PMC servers are terrible, they have only been put in because their front covers are all pretty. Stranded is a great map and it needs more attention.
While I like your map, that statement does sound a tad arrogant. I do like some of the PMC maps and not all of them are bad.

I do agree that this does sound a bit arrogant :/, I think its important not to just group and flame all of the maps together without giving constructive criticism...
on the other hand though I kinda agree that most of the maps on the pmc servers seem either in-extensive or not worth the looks on their pmc page :/ i really dont want to put names of maps forward, but there are two of the new additions that really make me rage; one of them looks absolutely horrific with the default texture pack, and the other one (which I confess i too thought looked really good from its page) is just a completely featureless landscape - a bit like terewan 2, but just with nothing in it :/ I hope i dont sound too cocky or horrible, i'm just a little annoyed with the selection and im saying how i feel :)

I know not all the maps are terrible, it just really annoys me to see that maps like rusty survival games are getting diamonds. From the few screenshots and the trailer he has, the map looks pretty good, but after playing the map, I realize that it is awful. I do accept that some of the maps are good, for example i quite enjoy land or Aries.

Can you please say the names? I'm curious, I don't think it would offend anyone.

There are well over 300 maps entered in the competition... while I agree that some of the additions are a bit perplexing, expecting volunteer staffers to meticulously comb through each D/L and upload every deserving map to the test servers is asking a bit much. Right now at a first glance the ones added to the server are:

Maps made by well-known MCSG mappers and players.
Maps that have been posted here on the forums and gained lots of support.
Maps made by PMC "All-Stars" that utilized their fame and large subscriber bases to gain stacks and stacks of diamonds.

While it's not ideal, I really can't come up with a better system for separating the finalists from the rest without a ridiculous number of man-hours. It's the nature of the beast. Best course of action is to leave your feedback (politely) on the current maps, hope that your map makes the next round of cuts, and if not submit it on the forums after the competition.

Also, keep in mind that your estimation of your map will naturally be a bit inflated - it's hard to be unbiased about your own work. While I'd love to sit back and say that the reason mine wasn't added was because of shaders, subscribers, bias, etc, the most likely fact is that it simply wasn't as good as the finalists.

Ok, im gonna be as diplomatic as possible though, I really don't want to upset anyone, these are just my honest opinions of the maps:

- Wasteland: Looks awesome initially on the pmc page, but its gameplay is crap, and it literally is a barren wasteland (see what i did there)- that's he one like terewan 2 but empty, so i think it rally sucks in that respect; its just really inconsistent generally, and chest placement isn't fantastic. Also, there is quite a large 'hermit' issue, meaning that noobs just get lost and make the game last the whole half an hour, which, whilst a huge problem on most maps is even more prominent on this one.

-Rust: now, in the trailer, this map looks incredible, absolutely incredible. however, if you play it with default it looks absolutely shocking, as in horrendously bad, as in just a massive lump of cobblestone and wood. Also, i don't think much effort was put in: all the cars are exactly the same, just copy and pasted in mcedit or something. I saw one which was just floating in mid-air and facepalmed. It even had a chest in it that you had to parkour to, meaning that they saw it and just didn't even bother to change it, the chest placement also sucks; i couldn't find a single teir two both times i played it, yet once I got no joke about 15 teir ones in the space of like 2 minutes.... It also has a Lot of holes you can fall down and not get out of, as well as the excessive use of lava, both of which are pet hates of mine.

-Forest of Isomething - The corn is just so unbeleivably plain, it just has a few ships and stuf in the map....

-All of the 'wave 1' maps - Just really plain and empty. The gameplay on most of them was terrible too. Exceptions are: rapturous drift, collosal caverns and rediscovered.

-Rapturous drift - quite fun gameplay initially, but it just isn't very extensive; it's pretty but there isn't much, it feels like only a short while was spent on the map.

-Collosal caverns - haven't played.

-Rediscovered - Nice buildings and decent gameplay, but it seems Very imbalanced. there are certain spots on the map with loads of teir twos and i just think its not that great, also theres a huge damn cliff most of the way around the outside of the map which is just a Bunny Lover if you go down; its very hard to get up and theres nothing the other side, and it dosent help the hermit issue.

I'm not saying these maps are bad, its just very irritating , and just plain unfair that some others havent been given a chance just because their authors arent well known, even if like 5 times as much time was spent on them.

In the end, i just think that these maps simply look pretty, and even then that's often only with the right texture pack and shader. I think gameplay and a well thought out map is by far the most important part of mcsg, as no one will stop in the middle of a chase just to admire a nice building.

Andy out.

I know it would be very difficult, but whats the point in a competition in which the most well known people win? then there is never a chance for an underdog, its as if the competition dosent want a repeat of the hunger-games plot XD #StrandedMapIsKatnissEverdeen
