I agree, you do have the potential to make something good, but you will have to put more time and effort into it 
It's much cooler and more fun to explore the wrecks of an airplane or a big tower for chests with useful loot, than exploring caves. Caves gets a bit too much of the same. You can either continue on your current map, then you would have to come up with some cool pieces of work to throw in there, or you could start fresh. I would personally recommend the last one
