Love Language
We all respond to love in different ways. Whether it be a family relationship, a friendship, or a couple, we all are comforted and reminded of the love through unique methods. Saying a simple "I love you." can reassure a person, while others are at ease when they receive a hug. There have been 5 identified "languages" people use to express love, words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. If you're unsure which one you are, there are tests online you can always take, I for one am comforted through words and spending quality time with one another. It's been a while since I've been on the forums, so why not start off by learning a little something about each of you, who knows you might discover one more thing you didn't know about yourself.

Words of Affirmation
Something about words uplifts your spirit. Hearing compliments about how you look that day, praise from your parents, and simple "thank you"s and "you're welcome"s are all you need to feel loved and appreciated. Not only do you enjoy spoken words, you love reading handwritten notes, "I love you" texts, and letters. One person's encouraging speech can leave a positive impact on you, so that you pursue new ideas and work harder towards a goal. As much as these things leave a nice warm feeling inside, insults and disparaging comments can crush you. You don't forget them easily. Words are your inspiration.

Acts of Service

You appreciate those who will go the extra mile to make your life easier. As the common saying goes, "Actions speak louder than words." and it's true for these kind of people. When people do little things such as washing the dishes, helping with homework, and making the bed you know they want to make your life easier. It's a big disappointment when people are lazy and break promises. It can mean the world to you when someone goes out of their way to ask "Can I help you?".

Receiving Gifts
Those who speak this love language, are not materialistic. You love the thought and idea behind the gift. You know the person has gone through a great deal of effort to get you that present and receiving the perfect gift shows you that they have been paying close to attention to what you've asked for and what you like. Birthdays and special marked celebrations are a big deal for you, and if someone forgets about them, you feel as though they don't care. Gifts are tangible bundles of appreciation and love.

Quality Time
Spending time with someone is how you feel loved. When you are in your time of need, the people who will stick with you through everything are your true friends and family. They have your back even when you're unwilling to give it. Those who will listen to your problems and give reassuring advice are the ones who you appreciate. You're often hurt when people check their phones on dates, ditch out on planned hangouts, and the failure to listen whenever you're talking. "Nothing says I love you like your full undivided attention."

Physical Touch
Surprisingly, not all people who speak this language are touchy. You enjoy pats on the back as a sign of congratulations and hugs make you feel safe and secure. When people physically touch you, it's a way of connecting. You know they share your concerns when they give a soft touch on the shoulder or share your excitement when they give you a high-five you. Neglectful people often make you depressed, it's crucial for you to have physical presence. These innocent touches signify security in any form of relationship for you.

In my family, I am what we call a "hugger" so I guess I speak this language!
