They're just going to have to suck it up the same as everyone else. They get recognition in the legacy leaderboards, I think that's enough in my opinion.
I believe the top 100 players should be awarded with a legacy rank to show their dedication towards the servers, just cause you're not in top 100 doesn't mean you have to complain about it.

Put yourself in there shoes. Imagine if you spent weeks of your life at this game. Wouldn't you like something special as a reward. At its not as if they are trying to make another game mode it's a simple addition, the hardest part would probably be trying to pick a color for the rank.

They spend these 'weeks of their lives' on this game at their own discretion. They don't do it for a rank (except for leaderboard ranking).

People in the top 100 probably don't care much for the rank. They are more focused on playing this game nonstop to get back onto the top of the leaderboards. As for the idea, sure it might be nice, but why bother. Players will see this rank and just target the person who has it. And the rank brings unneeded attention to the user, unless of course, they want the attention and just sit in the hub trying to make friends... And if you want to be recognized for this, your name is already on the legacy leaderboards, that should be plenty of recognition of the hours upon hours you spent playing a computer game.

Trust me when I say this, a lot or the top 100 players agree with me and care about the rank.

I don't see anything like this really being needed to be honest.
easy for you to say when you haven't spent the last 2-3 years earning your spot on the top page, just to have it all taken away and put into a "memorial". You think anyone would play a game if they knew after a certain period of time all their stats would be erased and they would have to start over? xD
