It depends what you want to spend your money on. If you are someone who is constantly playing MCGamer then yes, I would recommend you donate as it gives you perks that 'regular' players won't get.

However, if money is not a problem, then do not buy Diamond, buy Platinum. The difference between these two ranks is extraordinary and it's only $20 more.

I personally love being Diamond rank! It's awesome! If I were you, I would wait till the ranks go on sale again! ;D Thats what I did!

I would defenitely recommend Diamond rank for someone who wants the priority to join servers and more vote weight. If you are a rising youtuber, or high ranked player I would recommend platinum so you can /mask, /silentjoin and get more priority on servers
