Your controls are probably not fit for strafing (r for run key, so you cant strafe to the right)
Shift for the pinky to run is the best setup for strafing now.

1.8 also has a lot to do with fishing rod combos, but listen to this: time it right.

Don't try to crit, learn to click quickly, and don't rely on rodspam or bowspam.

Don't try to get the first hit while jumping.
