What do you mean 'join a server'? You go to Multiplayer > Add Server > copy and paste or type in server IP > Double click server. Once you're in game there is no command to join the game, you get put in it automatically.

Click add server.

Type us.mcgamer.net into the server address bar and click done.

Select the server and then click join server.
