How to stop random internet lag spikes?

What I do when my internet lags, is I restart my router, Have you tried restarting your router?

I have tried doing this many times. Although it does help sometimes, it isn't a permanent solution unfortunately.

I have fixed this problem. After many pointless calls with my ISP, I decided to get a new router, which turned out to be the problem all this time!
