Tall Grass can be cut with shears. Grass Blocks are dirt blocks with grass on them. They are different.

Ah. I'm not very up-to-date on what can and can't be obtained legitimately. It was a tall grass block, and I thought you could only get them in creative etc., so please excuse that! *facepalm*

Actually I had 2 pairs of shears today and I cut like 200 leaves but I couldn´t pick them up

Sometimes with server lag, people can grab blocks. So its possible.

As mugger said, there's a certain place in the second map where you can get a gravel block and a door (not going to say where as it will probably be abused). But if you get them, don't try to jump on top of them as it can kick you out of the server for flying.
