Tips from a skilled terraformer:

• Make custom trees. It may seem like a pain, but it pays off.
• Use block variation. Splatter some gravel or cobble here and there.
• Smooth your terraforming, especially the volcano.
• Change the biome to Jungle. It makes green look greener.

Another thing to add is that if you're pasting in buildings, don't overlay until you have all the buildings in.

Add A LOT of landmarks and hot spots, don't make it so it's just jungle, because it will end up being underplayed so make sure every part of the map has something!
