Command + q on a mac quits minecraft.

Oh i just assumed because it seems all control commands change to command on a mac

Don't use Mac. Break it. Use a better one like Windows.

Hover you mouse over your item and press Q . If it is a stack of items press CTRL and Q at the same time.
