Block Hits

I'm wondering if its a good idea to block and hit with your sword at the same time.

Give me your opinions.

If I had a two-button mouse I would definitely use this strategy, as it gives you a greater chance of taking less damage then just spamming left click.

I was never fond of block hitting. It reduces speed, and I want to run around and make it harder for the person to hit me, not easier. The only times I try to block-hit is when I'm underwater (or in it) or attempting to block arrows (once again, in the water.) Some people like it, I, personally, don't.

I find dodging far more effective at reducing damage taken than blocking, unless the source is very difficult to block (IE you were stupid and now someone's shooting you with a bow while you're in the water).

However, until NCP is fixed, alternating between swinging and blocking might help prevent that awful forcefield bug.

Yeah, I didnt mean all the time, just in 1v1 head on fights.

Personally, every time I try to block hit, it just horrible fails for me. I seem to do it wrong and I do far worse when trying to block hit, so I gave up on it and I never use it. It really bugs me when I see someone who can do it flawlessly and I have trouble beating them because of it. >.>

I have a 1 button mouse so to block I would need to do ctrl+click. And thats a pain so I don't use it, another reason being it sometimes glitches out and stays there so I die horribly

nope nope nope, block spamming is the noobiest way of fighting, since it reduces your speed, i've taken ironarmor and diamond sword guys when i had stonesword and leather, they did block style and i killed em' no damage taken.
