After playing both, I can find myself enjoying both games.
Really, they are both completely different types of FPS games. Battlefield is definitively more of a slower paced, vehicle based, large map laced game whereas Ghosts is, like most Call of Duty games, a faster paced arcade like shooter.

Initially, Ghosts has performance issues, spawning issues, and gun balancing issues.
BF4 on the other hand has noticeable issues with the reworked net code. In example, player A is about to round a corner while player B is waiting on the other side of the corner.

On A's screen, he may round the corner before player B's computer catches up to the game. As such, player A can already be shooting at player B before player B even has the chance of noticing player A.

Overall, however, both games are fun to play both casually and competitively. As always, we will see some patches in the near future which will hopefully nullify any current and significant bugs and/or errors.
Battlefield 4 contains frame stuttering for me on low settings, whilst I can run Battlefield 3 on ultra settings. Apparently it's got something to do with it not being optimised for multi-cores, but that also apparently got patched but it still happens to me.

Nevertheless until I get it fixed it does look amazing for what I've been able to see. :) The net-code was present in BF3 too, but I don't think it is possible to fix it without the shooting being fluid with player A.

Then there's me, someone who can't get either games because I have parents that are super-anti violent and think that I will basically become a serial killer if I play them.
Me too. I asked my parents if I could two CoD games from a friend and they agreed I can have them. Then my mom found out I had them after I asked for her permission to own them and she yelled at me.

Honestly? Ghosts, battlefield 4 is much the same as battlefield 3 ( a great game) it's more like a map pack with a bit to much destruction. I prefer cod though seeing as I'm actually have decent at it. But you know, they're both good games and I don't want to spark a flame war 'ere but honestly get ghosts.

I strongly suggest you spend your money on a game genre you've never tried before. I've experienced some of my favorite games that way, and it's a lot of fun. I recommend something like; Final fantasy (Preferably VI, you can get the best version of it on PSN for like 10$) a Metroidvania type of game (Super metroid or castlevania sotn for the best experience there) or, if you're feeling really out-there, harvest moon/runefactory. It's basically an RPG series about farming, where harvest moon focuses more on farming and rune factory focuses more on dungeon crawling.

I understand you aren't exactly looking for a suggestion on other games, but keep in mind you could probably buy all of them for less than the cost of either BF4 or COD, and most of them are widely considered superior in terms of quality.
