in canada we add U to words eh,.,., like colour and for words in the us like center its spelled centre in canada.

I like the reasoning of how Americans just like to be different from everyone else xD Seems to be pretty true!

Thank-you all very much for your responses. I had a feeling that it was more of a linguistic evolution situation that happened over several decades after independence. Am I correct in assuming that this was a planned change in language to simply make words easier to pronounce and use?

Well it all started in 1681 when a man declared the name "Color" and then he got tape on his mouth and that was officially announced.

I think its funny how you just think we know the answer to this, we pronounce our own country "Murica" 1/2 the time.

Colour = red, blue, yellow. Color = how Microsoft word Autocheck spells it
Centre = shopping centre. (Also not recognized on the MCSG forums...). Center = not a real word
Recognise = Basic spelling. Recognize = Cool spelling - everything looks cooler with a z.

Zo zat iz wat i think, any queztions will haz to wait :p
