While messing around in the hub with my friends, a person was asking people to check out his Twitch stream. A mod told him not to advertise, and that was that. But it got me thinking, in the rules, it says that you cannot advertise unless you produce MCSG content, or if you are specifically asked. Yet, I've seen mods call people out on advertising even though the channel produces MCSG content.

The mods I've talked to on TeamSpeak said that you can advertise your channel or stream once per lobby, or as many times as people ask for it. Since the hub is, well, a hub, the rules for advertising are different. I've seen conflicting warnings on the topic of advertising while in the hub. One mod did the usual "No advertising," while others have said "Only advertise if you are specifically asked."

I want to know what constitutes advertising while in the hub. Since the Rules were written with only game lobbies in mind, there are a few rules that are ambiguous when applied to the hub. If possible, could the advertising section of the rules be rewritten to include what applies to the hub? If they are rewritten, I assume mods would be instructed on the new procedures, so conflicting warnings be a thing of the past.

Thank you for your time,
Lively

I approve this question. Advertising MCSG content is allowed.

You are allowed to post streams without anybody asking; I highly doubt somebody would be advertising streams for other games/servers on the MCGamer hub. However, you're not allowed to repeatedly post it, only once in the hub/in a lobby.

The only rule this applies to is YouTube channels. You are only allowed to link them if somebody asks you for it.

You're mostly correct, but that restriction on youtube channels only affects channels that do not post mcsg content.
13. If I have a YouTube account, am I allowed to advertise that?
Answer: Yes, provided you produce MCSG related content. If not, don't link it unless specifically asked.
From the FAQ under general support.

I think the rules seem fair enough, as long as they are judged properly

I don't think this thread is about the fairness of the rules, rather how clear the rules are in explaining themselves.

There was alot of controversy about this in the hub one day, some guy was practically being attacked for advertising his MCSG youtube channel, and they were all like: "DQ! dont you see this guy?! ban him nao pl0x."
