No. The server's underlying mechanics are 1.7, even if one plays on 1.8. This is because the server runs a hacked protocol that is really just a 1.7 server altered to allow 1.8 clients.

Overall I'm fairly happy because the most of the community seem happier and glad that the staff listened to them. Personally I will still be using 1.8 as I'm used to it and it's features:3
I think it's a very unfair on the map makers who have spent many hours working on something only to find it can't be used anymore. But I guess a compromise has to be made :c
Plus the new hub is much nicer in my opinion and I like the new parkour

There are a few people that are building 1.8 maps and a lot that wanted 1.7 back. I think that Chad made a good decision to upgrade to 1.7 . It should have happened a long time ago.

The servers are lagging a bit right now because excess stuff from the update is still loading, but other than that I'm glad I can use 1.7 again. It's just so much more comfortable IMO
