For me, I put my FnS starting from the end of my hotbar. Here is how i roll : Sword, Rod, Bow, Gapple/Food, Food, Food, FnS, FnS, FnS.

By putting the Flint n Steels on the end of the hotbar, I can scroll up and switch back to the first hotbar quickly. I do this, also because I've got side buttons on my mouse. Which is really helpful. Just like this thread

I like puting the FnS either in the 9 slot and rod 2 or FnS 2 and Rod 9.

These tips are quite basic in my opinion, but i guess there isn't really alot to say about Fns.. you really just learn through practise.
