Over the last few weeks I've been helping my friend build a new PC for gaming. His budget is ~$1000. He can go a bit above or a bit below. He's been looking at prebuilt options from sites like cyberpowerpc.com and ibuypower.com, but I think he can get a similar build for a lower price. Right now, here's what I have for him on PCPartPicker:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120M 86.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($92.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($252.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Cooler Master GX 650W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($16.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - OEM (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $982.89
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I think this is a pretty solid build for the price. However, there are probably a lot of you around here that can give suggestions. Windows is a must. As far as I understand, Intel is generally better for gaming, so Intel is preferred as well. What do you guys think of this build?
