Since not many people liked the idea in my last thread, I'll present another idea. On posts that are over a month old, display this message over the reply box in red. (Red is a very alertive color, it stands out.)

Notice: It is against the rules to post on threads that are over a month old. Unless this thread is still relevant, please refrain from posting.

We could rewrite that message if we need to.

I'm assuming that most of necro-ing is based off of ignorance.

I blacked out the names since I didn't want any fingers pointed. This person wasn't actually banned, it was a game.

So people are still able to post, but that message serves as an incentive so people are less willing to post. People can still post on these threads however, but it teaches these people that it's a big no-no in the community to necro.

Dammit, I didn't notice there was a name at the bottom. So much for keeping it anon.

No hard feelings for using you as an example, muffybolt, right?

On another note, does anyone know who manages the programming behind the forums?

Dave and Antster360 usually manage forum ranks and look into problems at the accounts@blahblah e-mail, I believe. Not sure who actually does forum maintenance. Mooman or subv3rsion probably.

Well a necro is fine if it makes sense. I don't get why close a thread that can have any relevance at any time it's even part of the rules that it's fine, but 99% of the time threads will just get locked because it's a necro.
