I'm pretty sure one of our MCSG pet peeves is people who necro threads. I'm not sure this is the right section, but I have an idea. This isn't completely original, I stole this from Reddit.

So anyways, my idea is this:
If a thread is inactive for one month, it will automatically lock.

How it works is that if no one posts on a thread for an entire month, it will lock. Each time someone posts, the timer resets for another month. Liking posts do not count towards the timer.

Now most threads, such as map threads, won't always have a discussion, but the original poster will update occasionally. My proposal is that only the poster of the thread and moderators are able to post on the thread after it locks. Once that happens, the thread will be unlocked and will be open to discussion.

I could see this ending with people begging people on their profiles to post on a inactive thread to open it up again. This would create spam, which is filthy and should be purged from the earth.

Most of the threads that are inactive are usually forgotten, plus people can always create their own.
No, some thread still remain relevant after they have gone a month without posting.
Do you mind giving an example of these kind of threads?

Clan threads, when clans close applications they're thread can tend to go null until they reopen applications.
Map threads, map threads are always open and don't even get closed for a necro post.

I stated before, certain people can reopen the thread, like clan leaders and map makers.

If not, this rule could apply to only certain forums (such as Off Topic Discussions.) I don't know how difficult it is to program this though.
