Out of curiosity, I was wondering how many girl-friends you have. Notice the dash mark. Girl-friend is different from girlfriend. Girl-friends are friends that are girls. Girlfriends are girlfriends.

I have around 10 at my school. How about you guys? Of course, girls can say this too, but with boy-friends.
