Here is my (awesome) suggestion. I think it would be pretty great if about 5 - 15 servers were introduced where maps that haven't been accepted but the map committee are thinking about adding are placed for about a week or so. This would allow the map committee to get some community feedback on some of the maps so that they didn't make mistakes like adding Boombeard's Battle. The servers could run sg classic so that the maps don't have to be tiered and so they can be quickly added (that is why it may be better to have a smaller number of servers as well).
This idea would also be good for helping remove bugs before the maps were released onto all the servers. If we take boombeard's battle as an example, if testing had happened on that map before it was fully released then the boats at the corn could have been removed and the diamond chestplate could have been removed.
This would run in a very similar way to the pmc contest servers but instead with maps from the forums .
I don't know if there is currently a server like this for vips/staff but if there is then this idea is still valid as it will give a larger amount of feedback for the map committee to work with.
If you have any suggestions/ thoughts please share them.
