I have no idea. Since I'm not on the dev team I have no idea how they are organized. I suppose they will have to convert it to your Mojang ID rather than username if it's not already.

I don't really think proof is needed. In the last update Mojang assigned every single Minecraft account a Mojang ID. This will never change, even if your name changes. Mojang also released an API so servers can begin tracking players Mojang ID's rather than usernames. I think this is proof enough. And if you still don't believe me, the first time I ever joined a Minecraft 1.7.2 server on my Legacy Minecraft Account (purchased before Minecraft was released) I got a message from Mojang that looked like the following:

Mojang> Thanks! Your Mojang ID has now been registered with your username!
^ That message was in bright yellow, on a vanilla server.

If possible, I'm going to try and change it to something related to "Mooman" as that was my first choice. I have extremely deep ties to the name Mooclan, but mostly the Moo part. If I can change it to something closer to Mooman, I will. However, I'll probably do that only once I can buy a second account, and name that one Mooclan. (So that no one else can pretend to be me, and I can always pull out that account if I need to.)

This doesn't affect me at all, because:

1) I like my new username
2) I bought this account for a better ratio, so i wouldve bought this account anyway... name change or not.

To be fairly honest.. I don't see why many people would change their name.. Unless it's something like... Bob728273973 you know. That kinda name.. But it'll be so kinda confusing cause everyone in the community will be like; wait who are you? If they remember you and you're there like. Yeah sure? Ahaha

Everyone will imitate famous YouTubers, orderly to ban their friends through changing names... How can that be fixed?
