I thought about posting this in 'General Support' but since it applies to all of my minecraft I figured I'd post it here.
So here is my problem. My computer specs are:
OS Windows 7
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz, 2668 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
Available Physical Memory 1.51 GB
Total Virtual Memory 12.0 GB
Available Virtual Memory 6.05 GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
System Model Studio XPS 435MT

According to my friend, these specs are pretty good. But yet I still get lag and have to turn my settings down (Fast, short/normal render distance, minimum smooth lighting) and I get signifigant frame drops (down to like 20 fps) when using enchanted weapons (especially the bow.)
Does it have something to do with only have 1.51 GB of availible RAM? How do I increase that? Please help!

Around 40-80. Usually sticks around 40-50 when playing MCSG or other PvP stuff though. That's only when I have optifine though. If I don't have optifine I have to turn like all my settings down and still only get 30-40 FPS.

A good tip that normally doubles your FPS is not playing on a full screen. Set it so its big enough for you to read chat and play

Here is what I notice from the specs you have posted.
1) The processor you have is a bottom of the range i7, it is really nothing more than a budget processor where if you want something with i7 written on it, here you go.

I cant really see much more, what is the clock of your ram, what mother board do you have and what graphics card do you use?

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

Couldn't figure out how to check ram clock.

Your card isn't the best and the computer you have doesn't appear to even be sold by dell anymore. Your ram is actually alright, it is faster than mine and I run minecraft flawlessly. Do you happen to have optifine?

Yeah I do, but it's not out yet for 1.7, and may not be out for several weeks to come. Also, even if I go on 1.6.4 and use optifine, turn EVERYTHING down. I STILL get lag when using enchanted bow.
