My school has open mic nights every few months and I sang a song there once. Kind of got recognition.

You sound like my friend who got me into Rubik's Cube... he has an 8x8 also, though. I never bothered learning more than the 2x2 and 3x3 :c

If you are able to solve 3x3 4x4 and 5x5 you can solve anything above 6x6 it is the same concept but with more sides

I received the national technological achievement award for taking over 6 computer classes in high school

When I was in Primary School (age: 10) I was awarded highest achiever in my year and myself and all the other kids from the local area in my year group that were high achievers got a plaque to say well done. Now I'm in Secondary School and I have lost my brain and since then I became popular as I seem to say dumb things a lot once I called my female history teacher grandad.... That was a amazing recognition, I was known for that for a while, I feel bad for her too xD

Accelerated a year (skipped grade 5)
Got House Captain
Got SRC President
Got straight A's
Got the highest results possible in NAPLAN
Got my idea selected to replace the Kids-Space section in the Australian National Museum through school.
Got the most amount of consecutive questions right in the Australia Maths Competition and got an award for it at a ceremony and there were so many geeks it scared me (for some reason I did better than the year 10s.... wat ._.)
Top of my school (god knows why ._.)
Won the Arts Award at graduation
Won the Academic Excellence at graduation
Gained a kilo or so (that got me HEAAAPPS of attention when I got back from Vietnam.... 'Lucy you've gained weight you don't look so skinny anymore... but you're still really skinny')

and now here i am getting yelled at for getting Bs at school and 94% in maths tests

Well, I can backflip, and like every girl at my school that's I'm adorable because I'm like two years younger then everyone in my grade .-.
