No, you can access the other side of that door through the 3x3 stone wall and lava trap on the other side of the ruins a few blocks away.

The cave with the secret switch door is in between that lava trap and the combination vault.

no there is also a place on a rock where you can place the lever and than a piston door opens but you should look it up on youtube or something.
