For the client, a few seconds.
For MCSG, as long as it takes to get every single plugin used by MCSG updated to be compatible with 1.7.2. Surprisingly, there are a lot. The devs are doing their best to get everything ready. Otherwise, we'd just be playing vanilla.

Hello,
The servers would have been updated to 1.7, but some compatibility issues came up and at the same time MineCon arrived. From what I have heard, its got to do with the Hub system, which is why only CA and AS could be updated, they have no hub.
Today is the last day of MineCon and soon the dev's will be back home and can work on updating the network. Until then, feel free to play either on CA or AS on 1.7
