Long answer:

I just play MCSG.
If I see a pink or red or purple or dark red or raindow name, I say Hi.
Some mods are nice to me, and the others I have never spoken to.
I play MCSG, and I like it. The mods may or may not be corrupt, but to be honest with you, I love the staff of MCSG for all the hard work they have put into helping the community become (and stay) epic.
So, even if the mods were corrupt, I wouldn't really care.
They're nice to me, I don't see hackers (Much [okay, maybe a bit]), and I enjoy the game.
And that's what MCSG is about.
Enjoying yourself.
Even if you play because you enjoy winning, you play for the feeling you get when you win, or when you have fun times with old and new friends

And as long as the Mods don't ruin my fun, or any other rule-abiding MCSGers (take note hackers), and they keep the hackers away, and new awesome maps are added, I don't care if they are corrupt.

I feel that this post, although it talks about staff not seeing other's points of view, doesn't see the point of the view from the staff's perspective. There is a huge difference between criticism and general hate. What I've seen from most of these "The staff are bad and low quality" threads are pure hate. The questions proposed on majority of these threads are vague and manipulative. In addition, they focus only on the bad. What's being said on these threads are mostly "The staff are corrupt. Don't you agree?" "If you don't agree then do you notice how certain people got staff because they have staff friends?". As you can see, this gives the staff nothing to improve on. All we are told is that we are inexperienced, corrupt and bias. It raises no possible cause to fix, nor possible fixes. This is when threads turn into general hate.

The "criticism" that was brought out to help the staff change becomes personal attacks on staff members. For example, in this very thread, tpem was brought up. So far, I don't see him banning people randomly or abusing anything. Why was he brought up? Why was a moderator specified if the thread is about all staff? I wouldn't be able to answer this on my own but if I were to guess, it would be because targeting specific people makes it easier to show or give an example of what they're trying to prove. It prevents people from seeing the picture as a whole. In doing so, they thread becomes a personal hate thread towards the staff or certain members. Which is why staff react in such ways.

The reaction of the person who posts the thread, or people who believe the staff is corrupt, is usually to make a new thread or twist the scene of things into negative things. With threads being locked, I usually see people disregard the reason of it being locked and making more assumptions. Despite majority of the lock messages saying it was causing drama or an argument, people ignore reason and solely look at the part where the thread about staff is being locked.

Regard G33ke's point on informing being bad, I agree with him, to a certain point. There are things that people shouldn't know of and there are things people should. If there is something someone wants to know, they can ask the staff and we'll try to answer. If it crosses the line and becomes something we can't or won't answer, we'll give a reason why. Most of the time we won't disclose something is because it's private information and doesn't concern everyone else. This is why new rules were made. People kept getting themselves involved in matters that shouldn't involved them in the first place. They don't know the whole story and we can't tell them the whole story so they go and make assumptions of what is happening. This ends up causing the most amount of drama. To sum up, there are things that the community best not know, because it doesn't involved them. But before someone complains about us not telling them anything, they should try to ask the question first and see what the answer is.

This leads on to my next topic, inactive mods. There may be mods that may not be very active on the forums, but that does not mean they are not active in game or on teamspeak. Our main priority is to have mods moderate the servers. This is because there are more people on the servers than on the forums, as well as more rule breakers. If a moderator is dedicating all their free time to the moderating the servers, then you can see why they won't be as active on the forums. In addition to that, they may be moderating the forums as well, just not posting public posts on non moderation posts. It's kind of like how sr staff aren't as active in game, but it doesn't mean they're not doing work. We can't just always tell people we're doing work, because most of the time, the work is private or doesn't involve them.

The issue I really see with people hating the staff is that people are not asking before they act. They are not making sure before they post something or about something. This misunderstanding could lead to drama. We realize these issues. This is why there were new rules set in place to specifically target these issues. The solution I propose to have a good trust between the two sides(which shouldn't be two sides) and have the least amount of misunderstanding is for members who are curious about something, to ask the the staff. This will result in less assumptions, rumors and accusations, which will make threads regarding issues with the staff more civil and easier to sort out. If the false information that are cluttering the real issues are gone, then the staff will be able to quickly and more efficiently understand the issue, reflect on it and improve.
To be honest, my respect for you just tripled... My jaw dropped at this post! XD Your great and you should feel great.

For someone who's supposedly not trying to cause drama, that post sure was filled with it.

Before you begin to criticize the staff or ask others to share their criticism, consider from a moderator's viewpoint what it must be like to deal with a daily average of 300-400 players, many of which either don't care about other people on the server or don't realize that trolling people is just plain annoying.

A moderator has to deal with dozens of pointless complaints every day, many more so than concerns that actually need to be addressed. After a while, there's simply no point in responding to all the comments that read "why is creative down," "how do I play the Hunger Games," or other spam messages along those lines.

A moderator, or an admin, actually spends whatever little time they have in their day to play Minecraft by handling things which legitimately contribute to the server. Most of the time, that doesn't mean handling people who can't figure out how to perform basic server functions, or people who complain about things that are clearly explained on the website main page or in the forums.

Just because a staff member doesn't always directly communicate with every player, doesn't mean they're sitting on their ass or doing whatever the heck they want.

Have a nice day,
Aaron

My credibility for this post,
former admin of a successful server

Just wanted to give my input on this, I'd personally prefer it to be publicly announced rather than rumors spreading around about the situation/demotion and people getting the wrong impression of me.
I wanted to give my tiny opinion on this, and hopefully elaborate on some things that were far more generalized by the higher staff, but I cannot speak for them, as this all comes from myself, and myself alone...

Also, you gotta take into account, if Admins/Sr Mods Announced everything we did wrong, no one would pay attention to the front page anymore, because were all constantly making mistakes, but thats because were human, and theres nothing we can do about that... For example there will probably be several wrongings in this very post alone, I cant help that... While some mistakes may be bigger than others, having every mistake posted publically makes moderators out to be terrible people... Usually the people that care about when mods make mistakes, its when they are far too involved for their own good, and shouldnt be that involved anyway.

Another thing is, guys, if you think we dont tell you anything, try asking us... We'll do our best to get an accurate answer... If we (mods) dont know the answer, I (speaking for myself here) raise the question to the higher staff... That accounts for why I have so many questions at every Q and A... I write down every question I cant answer, and get an answer, then get back to the person. I figure most mods do the same, and should... Were really not as closed off as people think... There may be a small selection of sensative information, that we cannot tell, but as far as most players care about, we can basically give an answer. This also goes along with the regular Q and A sessions that the higher ups are doing recently, and I applaud them for that, great move IMO...

To Whomever specifically targetted @Joshkey for being corrupt, may I ask you this, what exactly did he do wrong? Were you breaking the rules, or doing something that goes above and beyond the rules? AND did you report him to a member of staff and have this whole scenerio appealed? That would be the better move instead of singling someone out on a thread like this...

Another thing, is majority of the time, to players outside of the forums, the Mods represent all staff, and if one does any little thing wrong, all hell breaks loose... I use that analogy due to on twitter, I saw a tweet @ChadTheDJ being something along the lines of "Your Mods are the Spawn of Satan, fire [insert name here] [and here] and [here] now." Which, they were three random mods, and the fact that they had done little to nothing wrong, still they had the opinion of all mods that were terrible... This goes back to what zeno said, about one ruining our image for everyone... Hopefully Some of us repair that, but theres no way to get around that, as majority of the time, people dont like people in charge/set in power... People belive (myself including) that they might be better fit to choose leaders *cough cough* Obama *cough cough* but in all reality, some things need to be changed from a differnet point of view, and seen from the staff perspective, that in all things, theres things you dont know, facts you dont have straight, and people were put in place for reasons that will remain unseen...

The Last thing before I wrap this up is that Mods are active in different times, and different places... If someone is inactive on the forums, and active IG, refer to what slasher said about people being active different places factoring time differences, and MCSG being a world wide community... Just because someone isnt like you, doesnt make them any less of a human being than you do, and (not to be corny) but to treat them with the same respect you would wish to be treated...

I believe that I have covered everything I wanted to cover...

I am sorry but all these long posts are just to much information for me to handle. (at least I managed to read some of them like Slasher's :p) So I am going to use the most simple yet understanding answer of all.....

Some staff are corrupt, some are not. The staff aren't perfect. The community isn't perfect. I am not perfect. NO ONE is perfect, and can never be. All people can do is do their best to say and do the right things, but it can never be perfect. As long as you do your best to do right, then that's all that matters. Yes there are some people who don't do their best to do the right things, and some people who don't want to do right at all, but like I said, nobody is perfect.

There. End of. :p
