Its not as if you are making you character run faster or have more hit points though.

That's really no advantage as it only helps you find your way, not having a far render would make chucks not load which would lead to seeing peopel in the distance, far render is good if you are learning the map.

Yeah that should be fine, as long as you don't get hacked client or mods that benifit your gameplay such as minimap or auto hit.
