PVP?

Okay so I have great chest routes for all three maps (actually on map 3 I just roam around and find chests easily), but my problem is pvp'ing. I suck at it. I almost always die, unless my weapon is at least 2 tiers higher than the other's weapon. It's not lag, I'm just not that great at it. Any tips? Tips could range from the way I approach the battle, nice things to know (like underwater hitting), or whatever. Thanks!

Do not approach someone unless you know you stand a chance against them OR you have the advantage of surprise. If you see a guy running towards you with full iron while you have leather and stone, just run.

When fighting, always jump, and hit the enemy as much as you can. This deals critical hits and does extra damage.
Strafe around (go around in circles) the person you are fighting. You can still hit them, and it is harder for them to hit you.
You should know about underwater hitting.
