1: Sword
2: Bow
3: FnS
4: FnS (wait wut?)
5: Rod (on 5?! why) ill explain below
6: Gapples
7: Arrows (ookkaaaaayyy)
8: Good food
9: Good food

Now im gonna explain why i have this hotbar setup.
First of all, i have a razer naga so i use the side buttons to switch items, not the numbers on the keyboard/scroll wheel.
Reason i have rod on 5 is simply because the 5 button is in a comfortable position on my naga mouse and makes it really easy to switch item quickly.
Having 2 FnS is always a good thing, if you are fighting a big team, maybe you need to use it several times and 1 may not be enough.
The most uncomfortable button to reach on my naga mouse is number 7, that is why i put my arrows there. Its always good to know how many arrows you have left without opening the inventory:)

5- empty slot

7- golden carrots or bread
8- steak or porkchops

If you're wondering why I have my fifth slot open it's because my mouse has a 2 macros which I set on 1 and 5. I use these to scroll through my items easily and also to try to lure people in

ex:
nub: haha dat guy iz nub hii pat un gud armer b4 hii haz wipons nub. i go get dat guy muhahaha

I basically do the exactly same thing as Gravey4rd :p

I have the button on the side of my Razer DeathAdder programmed to enter '1', so I can just run at someone with the rod, hit them with it, then click the button on the side of my mouse and start smashing away with my sword.

I've became insanely accurate with the scroll wheel (99.9% consistent, I may sometimes stuff up.. Rarely xD) so my setup is as follows;

1 - Sword
2 - Bow
3 - Fishing Rod
4 - FnS
5 - FnS
6 - FnS
7 - Golden apples (For regen purposes)
8 - Golden carrots (Best saturation in game)
9 - Arrows

Reasons:

I'm a melee fighter, unlike others though the fishing rod to me is easy to play without. I don't use the fishing rod for stun hits, I have other ways of fighting which revolve around close combat bow and sword PvP, scrolling is just really easy
