I was on an EU server, and randomly during the middle of the game, whenever i walked, i would keep getting teleported back a little bit. It was liking taking 2 steps forward, one back. this has only happened to me one other time in minecraft in general, and that was 2 days ago on these servers. Then i finally ran into someone I most likely would have killed, and then i discovered that I couldn't hit. -_- It seems to me that this was just a small hiccup in the server, not minecraft. Maybe I'm wrong.

It could have been that you hit the server border?

This is whats called connection lag which is different from server lag. Server lag is when the server is just being really slow whereas connection lag usually involves just your internet connection not sending properly. Basically your client moves you about but as your connection didnt send the info properly the server still believes you to be somewhere else, therefore moving you to that location. This combined with server lag is dreadful. Also to answer about y u couldnt hit, basically same problem when you hit the target is that server side the target has moved but on the client its there so u are actually hitting air ;).

Three possible reasons:
1. You are using a modified Minecraft, we have NocheatPlus+ which knock you back if you attempt to speed/fly etc.
2. Your internet connection is lagging.
3. The servers connection is lagging, try EU, US and AU and experiment which one lags less.

This is casued by lag. It wasn't the server because if it was it would of laged everyone else just the same. It's just your connection to the server.

I get this to, how I resolve it is to stay in the postition it sends you back to for 3 seconds, obviously this won't be the best in fights but it does work.

That sounds right, because the other guy could hit me in a fight. Altough I always have 5-bar connection...
