The fishing rod tactic

Do you just fishing rod when they are running at you and then start hitting so that they are stunned? How does it work?

I am really bad at this. What usually happens is I'm having a water battle with someone and I run out of arrows, and I hope fruitlessly that the fishing rod does some damage. I've caught some fish with that before.

The way it works is if you hit another player with a fishing rod it causes knockback and hits them in the air a bit, meaning they can't hit you but you can hit them. Simpler then it sounds

I find it relatively easy. Not sure if I'm the only one, and I picked it up pretty much as soon as I started. I know it's not the same for most people, and I'm not usually the best at things, but yeah, I picked it up straight away and use it all the time now.

I only use it what, 2-3 different ways, and even though I probably won't find anything useful with it I try to find new strategies using it.
