To put it bluntly, the only way you are going to be punished for this is if you are willfully using the fist glitch when you have an alternate means of attack. If you have no other means of attack, we aren't going to punish you as the glitch isn't something we can fix.

Maybe Mojang wanted to have a very OP pvp battle
Just my opinion but isn't there a better way of dealing with people abusing the glitch? When someone suspects they have the glitch corn becomes a bloodbath, but with that rationale they wouldn't be punished at all just because they didn't have a weapon yet. If you knew you had the glitch you could purposely not take weapons from chests (a spectator wouldn't be able to prove if a chest contained a weapon) to continue the abuse. Wouldn't it be better to treat each case separately and judge whether or not the abuser is the aggressor?
Eventually they'd have encountered a player with a weapon and that means they have no reason to use the glitch. If they don't get a weapon then they must have been extremely lucky to get a diamond sword in the same server in the previous game.
My point is that you can purposely not get a weapon or do it before you have the chance to get one.
There is a way to get this glitch every game, I will not publicly say this for obvious reasons.
I know there's a way to get this glitch every game, but there's also a way to prevent the glitch so you don't get yourself in a difficult situation where people start threatening to report you and saying you did the glitch intentionally.
