So I had an avatar made for me. When I try to upload it, it says the file size can be no bigger than 50kb. I noticed another person who was able to upload a picture that was over 70kb with no problems. I compressed the image down to about 40kb and still had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, the image is a .png if that matters.

When I do that it really messes up the image and still complains the filesize is too big even though it is not.

How big of the avatar file are you trying to upload?

An image in .png format would be larger than the exact same image if it were in .jpg format, with the exact same quality. The reason for this is that .jpg is compressed.

If you were to put the same image in .jpg and .png format into a compressed file (.zip etc.), you would notice that the .jpg will hardly compress and the .png will compress quite well because .jpg is already compressed.

Try saving the image as a .jpg. If you are still having problems, please describe what's going on.

Thank you.

This is the exact file I would like as my avatar. Right now, I have to use the image from my gravatar account. Unfortunately, the image has to be cropped with gravatar. I would like the full image as my avatar instead.

When I save it as a jpeg it adds an annoying white background and decreases image quality. Another user was able to upload a png that had a file size exceeding 70kb and had no problems.
