Programming.

Hello!

So basically I'm interested in getting into programming. Over the years I have attempted to learn C+ and Java once or twice, but failed within the week that I started. I guess I just wasn't motivated enough nor committed enough to learn. Now I think I might be. In IT class at school we've just started learning Visual Basic, so I guess I'll learn this first. After Visual Basic, what should I learn? Everything I read/watch looks so complex. So much text to comprehend and understand, programming seems impossible.

So what do you guys think of Visual Basic? What language should I learn? Helpful Tips? Did programming look painfully difficult when you first saw it?

I'm interested to see what those of you who are knowledgeable say, especially the developers.

Oh jeez, it was a little while ago now, I think it may have been C++, but I could be wrong.
