How much are you willing to spend. Cuz i can come up with a really good budget build and a good high end build.

can I just add you to Skype, it would be so much easier to chat. I would like to build one, or what ever is cheaper
I will be honest, that budget won't get you very far. If you'd like a pretty decent one, you'll probably have to raise the price range.

Not true at all. You can build a really good, cheap AMD machine for really cheap. This budget can get you far for a good machine.

best part is he can drop in an AMD graphics card and ssd down the road.

400-500 is not enough to last a long time. It might be good now, but it will become weak in the upcoming months/years. I'd suggest invest a little more, and it will last a little longer. With MC, you would need a decent processor-pref. a AMD Quad-Hex core since they are cheap-, around 4-8 gb of ram depending on how much money you have and a decent graphics card of maybe 1-2 gb of gddr5 ram, that the most basic template i can give for a machine to run MC at around 100 fps.

Yeah, but most people prefer Intel and Nvidia for reasons. It really depends how many frames he wants, if he plays any other games, etc...

You two are both correct. I prefer using intel and nvidia. For gaming those are the better combo in my opinion. Amd graphics cards are better for people running high end applications.

and it is better to save up and buy a better machine. But some people can't afford/don't need that. And the setup I'm suggesting will be good for some decent casual gaming, will last a while and can be upgraded in the future.

heres what I have so far. Still need to find out how much storage he wants and if he needs an optical drive or can just scavenge one from an older machine

An AMD HD66+xx graphics card will go nicely with this build, HD70xx might be too expensive though so idk. And that motherboard is terrible, should reconsider that :/ 400W seems a little too small for a hexacore processor, 8gb ram and a mid range graphics card too so I think a lot more work needs to be done in terms of calculating the total power intake of the build compared to the psu. Thats a nice processor though :O, I might even get that myself :/

I did that in the car on the way to dinner.
Hunger_Gamer wants a small and quiet machine according to what he said on Skype. So I just picked that mobo without looking at anything. I'll put more thought into that when I get home.

I've heard good things about that processor,

since this is an APU, the ram is everything. So I'm probably going to see if I can find 1800MHz 8gb ram. From what I've seen, APUs do amazing with really fast ram.
Over 8GB on a gaming only machine is usually useless, at that point speed of the ram is more important.
