no, you dont need anything...
you never need plug ins to join a server.... the server has plug ins

No. You don't need any plugins to play, just enter the servers and have fun. Though, they are usually full and it might take a while to get on one. To find the IPs for the servers, press servers at the top of the screen next to forums.

no, but if your in europe I recommend you go on the EU servers likewise if you are in the USA.
