Project 1845- Best minecraft build ever?

I'm helping out by building project 1845, if you have not heard of it, it is a build founded by Bohtauri, which has been in the making for 2 years, and is attempting to be given the world record for largest build in a sandbox game. Right now this is only 5.0% complete, but it is already over 2 million blocks. You could probably see some pictures of it, and the server ip on planet minecraft. So perhaps we could discuss this incredible project on this thread, I will tell you the progress and other news about this. Simply because it's the biggest doesn't make it the best.
I get that they're trying to set a world record, but it just seems like a waste of time if you ask me...
The map is not very practical, and it seems like a very repetitive design. It is cool that you are involved in building such a milestone though.

Also, I don't think you're allowed to directly advertise like this, but I'm not sure.

Bohtauri (the creator) says he only wants one copy of the project, and that is on the server...
